GameCrazi911 Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 When I Go To Microsoft And Try To Use Automatic Updates I Get The MessageError number: 0x80070424. I Have Looked In services.msc and Automatic Updates Is Not Listed. I Have Also Tryed %SystemRoot%\System32\rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection AutoUpdate 132 %SystemRoot%\inf\au.inf In The CMD.EXE Prompt But It Doesn't Work. I Am Stumped. HELP PLEASE
red_house Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 If you are saying that the files needed to run the automatic update service are not in the system 32 folder, then why not just transfer them from your XP disc to the folder.
hulala.[uk] Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 define it doesnt work?possible that it cant find files it needs to install the service, find them in i386 of your distribution also it needs a reboot afterwoods
hulala.[uk] Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 when you run command line which installs AU service you need following:%windir%\inf\I386\WUAUCLT.EX_%windir%\inf\I386\WUAUENG.DL_%windir%\inf\I386\WUAUSERV.DL_and it should work with no problem, make sure these files are cabbed not just renamed otherwise it wont work.also dont try to fix you AU service with old file versions if you are running SP2 get new versions.hope that helps.
red_house Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 You may also need to add:-%windir%\inf\I386\WUPDMGR.EX_ and in case you need help sometime i n the future - %windir%\inf\I386\WUAUHEL.CH_
