Win XP not starting after installing SP2

Featured Replies

Hi,

i installed the SP2 for Win XP now my comp does not boot past the Windows XP screen.

i have an Asus motherboard.

How do i work this around without formatting my system.

Thanks.

You could try with last known good configuration..

Do An Upgrade Inplace after booting from your XP CD-ROM. It is the 2nd Repair Option...

try enter safe model and startup system restore

I had that happen with a good portion of sp1a to sp2 upgrades... (on otherwise perfectly good working PCs) I'm not upgrading any computer to sp2 anymore - I just reinstall them from a slipstreamed XP SP2 disc instead. No more problems :)

Nothing wrong with your windows SP2 ... absloutly No problem

You need to update your Mother Board BIOS ... Yes believe it or not !!!

This is what happened to me .. and after the update .. every thing is ok :)

By the way is your MB Asus P4C800 or P4P800 .. is it one of them ?
