So I gotta upgrade my personal forum from PF4 to final.....

But there's no mention yet of this, even at InvisionPower's own forums. That's what is puzzling. It is going to be released later today then, I suppose.

Latest update on this:

Invision Power Board 2.0.1 has been released to the download area.

This release includes a minor security update to "login.php" which was reported earlier today.

We are still scheduled to make a maintenance release within the next few weeks and this release contains no other fixes.

Second shocker - IPB 2.0 series (or any version, for that matter) seems to be not free anymore, not even a trial. Completely paid! And Matt Mecham was saying all along that Invision will not make it such that there's no free avenues to use IPB!

So why do you need to put the word "Invision" in dot-dot form?

Yes, 2.0.1 is available, but it is just an upgrade. You need the intial full package, its useless without that. And that can't be downloaded freely on the correct side of the law!

And yes, there's also a maintenance release version planned for 2.0 within a few weeks (maybe 2.0.2 or 2.1).

Invision Power Services, Inc. is pleased to announce the Community Blog plugin for Invision Power Board.

The Community Blogging system will allow you to create a list of members with a Blog. Based on authorization the member can link to an external Blog, or create a hosted Blog. The administrator can define which usergroups can See, Create, Create hosted and Moderate the Blogs.

Current and Planned Features:

- Entry comments

- Users can customize the look of the Blog (viewmode, blocksposition, custom content blocks)

- Calendar, Last entries content blocks (which the user can enable/disable).

- Custom Content Blocks (users can add content blocks containing user defined content)

- Posting entries as draft to be published later.

- Assign Moderators to the Blogging system.

- Search the Blog Entries on keywords.

- View the history of the Blog.

- Locking of Entries.

- Private Blogs (only the Blog owner can see it).

- RSS feeds.

- Categories (allow the user to define categories and asign entries to them; the user can filter on a category)

- About me feature (it will display some member information with statistics and content the member defined)

The Community Blog plugin will be a low-cost addition to Invision Power Board license holders. We will also be offering IPS Forum Hosting customers the option of adding the Blog software to their hosted communities.

We expect the first public release to be available by mid-November 2004. Keep an eye out for updates until then!
