jamesas Posted September 11, 2004 Posted September 11, 2004 hi i was wondering is there anyway to cut win98 down to fit on a 118mb flash drive or would 95 fit on there anyway
jaclaz Posted September 11, 2004 Posted September 11, 2004 Please see my post here:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=27296For resources on how to minimize windows 98 and then put it either on CD or Stick. Also, have a look at Qualystem site, they now give out as FREEWARE their Qualystem? Rescue 1.2 Free Editionhttp://www.qualystem.com/en/download.htmlI am trying to do something of the like, based on existing Win98 install.I take for granted that removing IE is the first thing, that means you need to use some Win95 files, like LITEPC does. Results so far:NUDE 98 about 5 Mb (you cannot do much with this)MINIMAL 98 about 13 MB (32 bit and devices work) WORKING 98 about 40 MB (everything works as expected, no internet)OPTIMUM 98 about 55 MB (includes browser, office apps)I plan to have a script and a list of needed files to post by the end of september.jaclaz
jamesas Posted September 11, 2004 Author Posted September 11, 2004 cool i just need it to have handy or to install a program that uses 98 to modify bios so where can i get the optimium one
jaclaz Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 I am working on it, not ready yet.I am just trying to simplify the matter. If you are in a hurry, you could do what is suggested here:http://www.geocities.com/politalk/Or trim down your win98 with LitePC, then use Qualystem solution.jaclaz
Stanislavs Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 Yes, you can install it, but then you won't have space to install anything else.So you would just have Windows 98 on that flashdrive and nothing else.
