Edit Windows XP autorun

Featured Replies

Hi to all,

there is a way to edit the autorun of windows XP ?

I want add some apps under "Perform additional tasks" menu...

thanks

You can edit Setup.exe with Resource hacker.

Open the String section;

under the 76 subsection are titles (in 1033 script)

under the 82 and 83 are lines for execution (also 1033 scripts)

under 88 and 89 are correspondig command line switches (and also 1033 scripts)

(for example, corelated strings are 1213 (in 76), 1313 (in 83) and 1413 (in 89, however none is required so it's not included, but can be added manually)

12XX - string

13XX - excutable

14XX - switches

hope this helps

Thanks with resource hacker works.

But I can only edit exiting menu items...I changed some useless items (ie: View Realease notes, etc..) with my programs but if I want ADD more menu items ? It is possibile ?

Thanks

I don't believe so.

However, you can create your own autoplay using Autoplay Media Studio, and I recommend you version 3 or 4.

yeah ive just downladed 5 and it aint to impressive why the pthers better?

I've seen many custom setup.exe built with autoplay media studio, but does any one know where to start? does anyone has any sourcefiles of building a custom setup.exe?
