How do we run Software built for 98se on XPpro?

I vaguely remember that some how you can run software built for earlier versions of Windows on XP?

Where and how do i do this?

Right click on the executable, or on its shortcut and get the file properties. You will see a "Compatibility" tab. There, use the "Run in compatibility mode for" drop-down box to run it in compatibility with the OS of your choice.

Would that be the only method to use?

Im just thinking "What happens if the software wont even let you load, or install?"

Is there any other ways around it? Just in case!

is there a more "pemanent" solution for cd's and stuff or will that setting be "lasting"?
