Hello Again,

We have terminal services deployed in our environment; because users come and go we use a single user ID that everyone can use. The problem with this is ( you guessed it) when a user disconnects another user may log in to the same session or if the certain number of users are connected the same scenario occurs where you log into a open session.

We have already with GPO set that a disconnected session be logged off within a minute, but how do we keep people from logging into other people's open sessions?

To my knowledge there is no way of making TS to open a new account on the same PC. The best option is to create a shortcut on the desktop to "Logoff.exe".

This is the way i have got round it in my network. All the users use that instead of the start button. Obviosly te users need to be told to use the logoff icon instead of the start menu option. I have also disabled the shutdown option on the start menu and removed the disconnect link. However, if there is a timeout, the user could lose data if the auto disconnect option is set too short.

With our TS users, we have them to go Start | Logoff. As far as I understand, your users are pressing the X at the top and not logging off correctly. The best option would be to do what MadGutts suggested or simply stress to your users to use that Logoff button.

Madgutts that's not a bad idea thanks . I also found the setting for "allow connection from original client only" i think that might also work.

Hey Guys

Instead of putting the logoff.exe shortcut on the desktop and other stuff, you can do this very simple thing...

Put a wall paper statind the following " Please Logoff once you are done. To Logoff do the following - Click on Start -> Run -> Type "Logoff" (without double quotes) and hit Enter. "

Any Simpler solution is welcome

that's an excellent idea never thought of that

i have the background but an arrow pointing to in is brilliant. Then again these are students not the most attentive crowd in the world.
