prathapml Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 Hey all,Since this section of the forum is anyway meant for self-promotion, here it goes:There's this site - http://forum.seo4india.com/.Site by a friend of mine. Do check it out, and register if you feel like it. There's nothing in particular - its still in its infancy, and there's only random talk happening there at the moment - nowhere as vibrant as here. Make a few posts, rant all you want - enjoy!I'd say the main reason for you to have a peek would be to check out the IPB 2.0 (Invision Power Board) which is used there for forums - same as MSFN, but a newer pre-release version. Eventually MSFN would upgrade to IPB 2.0 as well, if I'm not wrong. IPB 2.0 has got lots of new features for members (for moderation as well ) - become a member there to see it in action.
tak Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Mmm, IPB 2.0. Hydrogenaudio switched over a while ago. I'm considering buying a license for it when I get my own forums online. The Administrator CP is pretty slick, I think. (Designing the site + forum locally). Did your friend get IPB 2.0 to work with PHP5?Eventually MSFN would upgrade to IPB 2.0 as well, if I'm not wrong.Really? Why? Other than perhaps security issues or bug fixes, it's not like a user will be forced from 1.3.1 --> 2.0 when it is final, no?
prathapml Posted August 29, 2004 Author Posted August 29, 2004 none of the popular servers would have upgraded to php5.there is not enough support out yet. it will be atleast 6 months...so its php4.Other than perhaps security issues or bug fixes, it's not like a user will be forced from 1.3.1 --> 2.0 when it is final, no? Right - we're quite happy with the current version. But it sure would be nice. Anyway, let's see what happens when the time comes....

Ha ha ha......MSFN is tops - see this thread - proves my hunch that we'll be moving to IPB 2.0 dudes. I like it.
CoffeeFiend Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Yes, and then perhaps we can go IPB-hack crazy and bug xper every day for a new tweak
prathapml Posted August 29, 2004 Author Posted August 29, 2004 Please do not. He has already done whatever hacks is needed. I'm happy with the forums as it is, and really, the admins know what is good for the boards. I don't think I need any other feature/hack now at all. Let the admins do what is best according to them. But crahak, please get back on topic, and let's hear comments about the site posted in the first-post. Most of the things you find in that site's forum are currently at IPB 2.0 PF3 default settings. So, just try out that place and enjoy the newer version.
CoffeeFiend Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Sorry. I was just joking here (I'm never very serious...) The new IPB sure looks nice Looking forward to it already.
XtremeMaC Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 1st thing that differs in ipb 2 is it allows multiple attachments. I've a forum running on beta of ipb 2 pdr 5 and ppl just love the attachment option. though a nice upload status showing how much of the file has been uploaded could be nice but.....the admin panel of ipb 2 is very very nicely organized.
raduking Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 I cannot change the group images anybody is experiencing that with IBP 2.0.0 PF 4 ?
