Thanks for the answers. I've decided to drop back and use an earlier driver version. I was using the latest, version 61.77:

Instead I'm using 61.76 from a week prior, which is certified:

@schalti -- thanks for the tip. I think I'll try that and see what happens. But even if that doesn't help, I guess I'll be OK with the driver package I'm using.

What a headache. But at least this is the only problem I've had with SP2, so I guess I'm lucky.

I am curious, how did you get this line to work?

FileSystem=ConvertNTFS

No matter what I try this line never converts to NTFS. I instead have to use this line to make this happen after first login.

Hmmm, I'm not sure. It always just worked for me. You might want to start a new thread on it, since you'll get more attention that way.

so...what is the answer here? does driversigningpolicy not work? i have modded ati drivers that i want to install in xp. will it not work with the driversigning policy on?

i tried an installation with driversigningpolicy on in sp2, and it didnt install any driver that wasnt WHQL certified. It also would let me install any driver that inst WHQL certified after installation.

Try creating a .reg file with this entry and executing it.

"Policy"=dword:00000000

Remove the comment line though first.
