Slipstreamed XP with SP 2 keeps asking for SP1 CD

Featured Replies

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but everytime I have tried doing a slipstreamed WinXP with SP2, under the installation it ask for SP1 CD.

I use a modified winnt.sif for unattended install and have even tried maken a new winnt.sif with the new SP2 deployment tool but still the same.

I have tried first updating the slipstreamed disk with first SP1 and then SP2, but again the same.

Would apprisiate any help on making a slipstreamed cd as unattended install.

Cheers,

Stenn

I have tried just copying the *.SP1 file to the root copy. When doing that it did not ask for SP1, but then it poped up and said that something was wrong with the winnt.sif file though it was made with SP2 deployment tool.

I can't by the way see any difference in the unattended.txt file generated by SP1 og SP2 deployment tool.

What can I say....I'm just stucked at this point.

Which way are you doing the slipstream?  Through an automated process or through directions such as on the M$ site?

I use the update.exe -S: for slipstreaming.

Tried:

WINXP + SP2

WINXP + SP1 + SP2

WINXP with SP1 + SP2

I have even tried the nlite tool, but still the same.

Ok, did you use the actual CD or an ISO?  Also, do you have Shareaza?

I have ISO's from microsoft msdn and use them. Using daemon tolls to mount the ISO's. Do that have any impackt?

Not sure but it could, especially if there is a file or two missing in them. If you have edonkey or shareaza, You can PM me and I'll tell you how to get a copy that is already made up for SP-2.

Thanks for the offer, but I can't use those programs.

I will try a step by step confirmation and check out where things go wrong. Will update this tonight.

Try making a CD with the gold version of XP, (non-sp version,) and then xcopy all of it to say C:\XPCD. Once you did that, use the command -integrate to integrate it. Then get a copy of the CDImage_Pro from the finish portion of the unatteded.msfn.org site and use it to recompile the .ISO to X2PFPP_EN.ISO that should work. If not let us know.
