Denney
Does anyone know if it's possible to rename a computer via the command line or registry file?I want to rename the computers I install onto at the "cmdlines" section of Windows Setup. At the moment, I have 4 registry keys:[HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ActiveComputerName]"ComputerName"="??"[HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ComputerName\ComputerName]"ComputerName"="??"[HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]"Hostname"="??""NV Hostname"="??"I would prefer to be able to change the computer name at the command prompt though as doing it via the registry seems a little dirty to me. sleepnmojo
I also like compname.exehttp://www.willowhayes.co.uk/Gives you more options, rather than having to come up with the name yourself, you can set it off the serial number of the computer, etc.
