Posted here for your benefit:

Dear Linux Professional,

We are contacting you to inform you that the Novell Linux Technical

Resource Kit is available for order once again.

As you may have heard, we experienced an overwhelming initial demand

for this kit, and quickly exhausted our inventory within a few short

weeks of its availability. Now we've managed to produce a few more.

However, the quantity is very limited - and initially available only to

those on the kit wait-list.

An exclusive order site will be available at

http://www.novell.com/community/linux/order_limited.php until the end

of Tuesday, August 24, 2004. Remember, that the offer is available only

while supplies last - so please visit the order site as soon as

possible. After that time, any remaining quantity will be released to

the general public.

To make sure that we have enough kits for all on the wait-list, please

refer anyone else interested in the Linux Technical Resource Kit, to

visit http://www.novell.com/community/linux/order.php sometime during

the middle of next week.

As mentioned on the original order site - the Novell Linux Technical

Resource Kit contains over 10 GB of licensed and evaluation software on

3 DVDs. The Kit includes:

- SUSE Linux Professional 9.1 (Bootable Installation DVD)

- SUSE Linux Entreprise Server 9 (ISO Installation Images)

- SUSE Linux Professional 8.2 (Installation ISO images for use with

Ximian Desktop)

- Ximian Desktop 2.0 Evaluation (ISO Image)

- Red Carpet 2.0.2 Evaluation (ISO Image)

- GroupWise for Linux 6.5.1 - Server, Client & Messenger (ISO Images)

- Novell Nterprise Linux Services 1.0 (ISO Image & NLS Companion CD)

- And more...

If you have any questions about this offer, please respond to this

e-mail.

Sincerely,

Novell Linux Community

Cool! Is that (free shipping) only within the US, or global?

I got free shipping on this giveaway to the UK if that helps prathapml.

OK, that does help, thank you! :)

Also, has it arrived for you yet?

I ordered it a week ago, and I have no idea what time-frame to expect it to be delivered - the email (as above) has no info regarding the waiting time.

It took about three weeks to arive.

When it did, it is no larger than a standard envelope (no padding), so I guess there is no real postage costs for Novell to worry about :D

Hey man, no worries - you can use the main order site and register for ordering those discs. That limited special offer is only for IT Pros who need to get this.

i ordered it but supposed there won't be any reply :P

Is there a Remote Desktop (the MS one, Remote Desktop Connection in XP) client on linux platform? If so, is it available in both rpm and deb formats?

You can use the "rdesktop" client - its an XFree86 dependant program which won't require any of the other GUI widget libraries to be installed. Other than that, some VNC clients for the linux platform also have the capability to connect to Windows Remote Desktops.

@SimonSays

If your order has been accepted, you'd have been sent a confirmation email to the address you gave while registering.

@Famer

Did you order it from that same site, (for free) and how many days did it take for delivery of the DVDs?

prathapml it took a about a week or so for me to get mail slow

you will get 3dvd's, from i could see it's all fullversion software but you will have be your own tech support, and i think you can get patches and updates but thats it.
