the real question is, did you disable/remove OOBE?

$Docs and $Progs aren't really part of the OEM PreInstall, but I believe more of a part of OOBE.they're copied over during GUI setup (the Blue windows screen, with those annoying ads) instead of txtmode.

I didn't know of that either! :) Good to know...

does no one read anymore? or do I have a really good memory? :)

@prathapml

In an untampered setup of SP2 RC2 build 2149, the files I places in $OEM$\$Docs were indeed copied over. But I should point out, they are copied over fairly late in Setup. Perhaps at first logon. Wasn't checking that closely, I stopped checking at T-13. But the files were there, so there you go.

I don't understand what you mean to convey with that sentence....

OK, so Alanoll's confirmation makes it apparent that there's something *ELSE* wrong somewhere on my CD (user error :) ). I was afraid that's what it would turn out to be. In any case, I'm gonna put off trying to find out exactly *WHERE* that bug is (since I can simply use a silent SFX for the same function).

well, it didn't cause the problem you are saying...

I have find an alternate way to do it, I like it better that way (since my administrator username will be change depending on user input).

in batch file

ECHO.
ECHO Starting File Copy
ECHO.
ECHO. Copying favorites
ECHO Please wait...
xcopy /y /e %systemdrive%\install\favorites "%userprofile%\favorites"

Here it is, better that way.

Also, I deleted oobe from the installation and the folder are beeing copied now... I just put them in the wrong folder
