MCT Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 this just recently started 2 happen, ive noticed my username is now administrator.MCT_Home_PC anyone know why? is it because of cmdlines.txt ? thats 1 of the recent things i added 2 my unattended install also.. where are control panel icons kept i wanna change the mouse & keyboard icons [FIXED] found them in main.cpl if anyone is interestedthanks
WwTIPPYwW Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 Do you use the $OEM$\DOCS\ADMINISTRATOR folder on your CD that gets copied over?If it see's an existing one, I think it creates a new ID/profile.If that is the case, then you need to tweak things to get the desired effect, without an existing ADMINISTRATOR folder.Try putting what you want in the Default User folder or the ALL User folder
MCT Posted July 17, 2004 Author Posted July 17, 2004 hi thanks 4 responding, no i dont do that at all
WwTIPPYwW Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 does the cmdline.txt create something that would confuse the PC into thinking that ADMINSTRATOR is used already and create a new ID ADMINISTRATOR.PC_NAME?I am pretty sure that I read in the forum somewhere that because the ID already existed, it creates a new ID with the PC name on it.
MCT Posted July 17, 2004 Author Posted July 17, 2004 the only thing in cmdlines.txt i have is the command 2 install regtweaks during t-13 , rest goes & t-9 & it works fine :S
WwTIPPYwW Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 what are your reg tweaks? do they create administrator settings that mess it up?
MCT Posted July 17, 2004 Author Posted July 17, 2004 nope, its basically just tweaks 2 change things like disabling highlighting of new programs in start menu, just GUI tweaks basicallyive removed cmdlines.txt & that didnt help :S only thing else i can think of, is it could be something with xplode & T-9 maybe?regards
mmarable Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 Something is creating a folder called "Administrator" in your Docs & Settings directory before the Administrator account logs in. When you log into Windows, if there is a folder with the same username that is not part of the profile Windows creates a new folder and appends .<computername> or .<domain> (if a member of one).Somewhere before the first logon, that "Administrator" folder is being created. What do you have going on in XPLode at T-9? Any files being copied? Desktop icons? InstallRite (or other) installation packages?
enuffsaid Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 MCT,You're not making things any easier on the people that are making an effort to help you. From what I read people are suggesting things and you simply reply by saying "that's not it" or "I don't do that"...It WOULD help a great deal if you could TELL US what exactly it is you ARE doing instead of letting us guess. Post your code! Your question has been answered many times before. And whether you like it or not, windows does this by design; ITS you that's making a mistake somewhere! Either search MSFN or state your situation clearly! This is going nowhere!!! From an experienced poster like yourself I would expect a little more common sense!
MCT Posted July 20, 2004 Author Posted July 20, 2004 ive had the same tweaks & things (nothing different) & its always worked b4 , but now its giving me the username thing, its not a big deal really, ill just keep playing til i get it
Dustinwmew Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 do you have a "$OEM$\$Docs\administrator\" folder on your CD?(people have all really asked this but not in a simple way.)
MCT Posted July 20, 2004 Author Posted July 20, 2004 nope, only oem folder's i have are$OEM$\$1\Install\Apps$OEM$\$1\Install\Xplode$OEM$\$$\System32$OEM$\$$\Fonts$OEM$\$$\Web$OEM$\$$\Regtweaks$OEM$\$$\Cursors$OEM$\$Progs75\Opera\Pluginslike i said, these have worked fine b4 flawlesslyi figured the above is the easiest 2 explain the folders
mdes Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 This is because the user administrator was already existing on the target partition. (You didn't format it before installing ? )
MCT Posted July 21, 2004 Author Posted July 21, 2004 ya, i did, maybe its a glitch with vmware? cuz the hdd isnt a "real" hdd & maybe windows format got messed up ?btw: thanks 4 all the posts regards
