Slipstream Windows Update Files in XP

Recommended Posts

i've been browsing the forums here and elsewhere for the last few days and tried several different methods to slipstream updates.

i found two that worked pretty well.

the first is XPCREATE : http://greenmachine.msfnhosting.com/XPCREATE/quickstart.htm

This program works wonders for those who arent into writting code and messing with files. copy some files into different folders and edit a file and thats it. it does the rest.

This site from microsoft was also helpful in my 2nd method:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...1/hfdeploy.mspx

The microsoft one takes awhile and is quite a bit of work but works great.

Good luck

umm....

HAHA!

XPCREATE has it's own little subforum. lol. look alittle farther down. XPCREATE was created here.

Most people use it, or by using SVCPACK.INF (the second method, pretty much)

XPCREATE is just alittle more thorough if a file is missing and updated alittle.

Why is it that every Amoeba, that crawls up out of the sea and discovers land, posts about it here before they've read enough to see that the land has been inhabited for quite some time? Oh well.

Does that mean we can start charging rent for the space?

heh heh

actually i posted that becuase i spent two days browsing the forums and found alot of jibberish and nothing that really helped me understand how to do these kinds of installs.

to actually understand things i had to put togehter bits and pieces of many different posts and replys.

sorry if i'm taking up your space but i thought the reason for these forums is to offer help and ask for help.

like i said, it cant hurt to post somethign that might offer someone a little bit of help.

No it doesn't hurt to post something.

but, if you look here...

http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/hotfixes.htm

that would be your second link, give or take...

http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/members.htm

would take you to the first one.

Alittle reading is all that's required to find them. As for the others that may be perhaps insulting you for posting, please don't do that. tell them it's already here and people know about it (like i did) but don't bash them for trying to help.

But in all honsty, do you know how many of these posts I've seen? Or the number of posts on people asking how to do this or that, when it's already been covered? Search for Autopatcher, you'll find alot of posts of people saying it's the easiest thing to do hotfixes, and alot of them within days of eachother.

Thanks for trying to help others, but if people can't read, then they really shouldn't try this stuff. It takes ALOT of reading.
