Ok, I'm moving a machine at one of my sites from it's old workgroup to a new domain we setup. The problem is that the machine has both client for microsoft networks and windows logon turned on. I'm afraid if I take out the windows logon the users will lose their stored data their. Does anybody know where the users profiles are stored on 98?

I dont think it will loose the stuff, just rename and set up the new domain and delete the old workgroup and domain. Make a back - Up of all the stuff on the comp (Win 98) and then transfer.

My suggestion isthat you get rid of Win 98. Win 98 is soooo crap for networking. I just had problem after problem. Get a better OS for it. 2000, ME or XP. XP being the better one :) Gl mate.

I so agree that 98 sucks, but it's not my comp. I work for a company that does network administration at different sites I can't put 2000 on until I setup a clone with sysprep worked on and all that. This can take a while to do right, so for know we just need the machine up and running. I'll probably just do that backup. That's the downfall of old OS's, they just don't match up network wise like 2000 and XP.

Yeah, as i recommecded a back-up should do the trick, just make sure you get all the nessecery files etc.

What about ghosting the machine?!
