nealric Posted July 4, 2004 Posted July 4, 2004 I got my unatteded install running with a few extra themes- but there are a few problems. 1. My default bootup theme goes away if it is changed. As in, after the install I have it, then if I change to a different theme I dont have the option of switching back 2. Many of the themes i have found have many more files than the .msstyles. Most of them have at least a shellstyle.dll. The ones with extra files display incomplete. For example, a mac osx theme gives me the mac style start bar, but it starts on the bottom and does not have the osx quick launch like it it supposed to. Im wondering if these things require running style xp or similar, but if there is another way, I would be grateful. Ive been making the .theme files from the example on this website. It looks like:; Copyright © Microsoft Corp. 1995-2001[Theme]DisplayName=Black; My Computer[CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\DefaultIcon]DefaultValue=%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe,0; My Documents[CLSID\{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}\DefaultIcon]DefaultValue=%SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32\mydocs.dll,0; My Network Places[CLSID\{208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D}\DefaultIcon]DefaultValue=%SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32\shell32.dll,17; Recycle Bin[CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\DefaultIcon]full=%SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32\shell32.dll,32empty=%SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32\shell32.dll,31[Control Panel\Cursors]Arrow=Help=AppStarting=Wait=NWPen=No=SizeNS=SizeWE=Crosshair=IBeam=SizeNWSE=SizeNESW=SizeAll=UpArrow=DefaultValue=Windows defaultDefaultValue.MUI=@themeui.dll,-2043[Control Panel\Desktop]Wallpaper=%WinDir%\Web\Wallpaper\clockwork_v2.jpgWallpaper.MUI=@themeui.dll,-2036TileWallpaper=0WallpaperStyle=2Pattern=ScreenSaveActive=0[VisualStyles]Path=C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\black\black.msstylesColorStyle=NormalColorSize=NormalSize[boot]SCRNSAVE.EXE=[MasterThemeSelector]MTSM=DABJDKTThemeColorBPP=8Maybe there are more lines I need?3. Is there any way to switch the bootup screens after the install? I got mine changed, but it would be nice to have the option of several.
MCT Posted July 4, 2004 Posted July 4, 2004 did u use the hacked uxtheme.dll ?also, about the bootscreen, just put the files in system32 & call them something like myboot1 myboot2 and so on, then in boot.ini append /Kernel=myboot1.exe 2 your boot pathregards
nealric Posted July 5, 2004 Author Posted July 5, 2004 Thanks for the startup solution...But I still need help on the themes. And yes, i did use the hacked uxtheme.dll.
Lost Soul Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 how exactly are you calling your theme from your runonceex ? and if so is it at the beginning or the end of that list ?
Alanoll Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 how are you transfering them over to your new install? Are they all appearing in Resources\Themes? as in all the files? You can't switch back, because Windows can't find it. themes go in Resources\Themes. But their msstyles file, go in a subfolder inside Resources\Themes named after itself, or whatever it appears on the appearances tab.
