Keeping View / Status in IE

Can't figure this simple problem out. I like the view > status bar enabled in IE. Seems like it never want's to stay put. When I close IE, the next time I open it the status bar is gone.

Not a big problem, since I go to the menu and enable it again.

Is this a feature or a bug?

I noticed that as well. Windows Explorer also has a similar status bar, and it also suffers from the same problem, it never wants to stay.
