is SP2 for xp like SP4 2000?

Featured Replies

is microsoft having all the fixes from the 1st SP in SP2 like thay did for windows 2000 SP4? (SP4 had the SP 1-3 fix part of it so you would not have to do all 4 one at a time.)

i think so, from what i hear , but i havent tried sp2 personally...

ANY Microsoft Service Pack superceeds any that have been issued before.

Example:

Windows 2000

SP2 replaces SP1

SP3 replaces SP2 and SP1

SP4 replaces SP3, SP2, and SP1

Windows XP

SP2 will replace SP1

Yes that will be the case then SP2 goes final

However it is now in RC2 so more then likley there will be several updates release from this point till it goes gold....so just keep that in mind when using sp2 betas

Windows XP SP2 will include all fixes released prior to SP2 plus additional fixes and enhancements. The current build (2149) of Windows XP SP2 released to public is "feature complete" meaning no new features or bug fixes are added, unless they are absolutely critical.

Right now, Microsoft is focusing hard finding and removing the last “errors” and finalizing the product. In mid July, Microsoft will freeze the code, including documentation. Planned RTM is end of July.
