hutrijo Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 I have a Windows Me and Fujitsu Simens Scaleo. I got in the windows ME right after the beginning the blue screen and Windows protection error, start the system again.I have tried the log mode and fault mode, same thing. Now I have installed ME again from the recovery cd. But the same thing again. In installing I got the message SUWIN caused a general protection fault in module VERX.DLL at 0002:24AE., but that I managed to fix, I think, but in any way installation went through. I took away IE, Mediaplayers and wmploc.dll,..What now ? By the way backups are not in good shape, so I have to save own data first. How I get the RWCD players to work in fault mode ?JHu
LaRcOs Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 I've got some suggestions - but your probably not gonna like them.Basically it depends on how computer literate you are.Firstly - Windows ME was probably the worst choice you could have made! Blue screens EVERYWHERE...but we cant help that now If i were in your situation - i wouldnt bother frigging around with the software - you've obviously tried re-installing with no luck...Id either...1. Take the hard drive out, put it in another computer as a secondary drive and take the data you want. - Then put it back and format it.OR2. Go into DOS, if you can get there delete your ENTIRE C:\WINDOWS directory re-install - this will allow you to re-install, chances are most things wont work of the start - but at least then you could re-install burning software, burn your data and format again.Hope that helps Good Luck!
neosapience Posted June 12, 2004 Posted June 12, 2004 Others have had the same problem. Check out these links for some possible solutions -http://www.computing.net/windowsme/wwwboard/forum/30734.htmlhttp://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winme/t1054585942

cancer10 Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 It often happens when your Processor has become extreme hot and cannot work anymore. Trun off the PC and try after some time...
TheDavenator Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Win98SEMessage: Article ID #229670 reviewed in January of this year indicates that there is a specific hotfix available for my problem. Q229670SOL caused a general protection faultin module GDI.EXE at 0009:0000151e.Registers:EAX=58f60000 CS=04a7 EIP=0000151e EFLGS=00000a46EBX=0000000b SS=6b9f ESP=00001a9e EBP=00001accECX=00000176 DS=4f27 ESI=00000025 FS=0000EDX=80f44080 ES=5de7 EDI=000009c0 GS=0000Bytes at CS:EIP:aa b0 ff e2 ef eb 0f d0 ea 72 04 e2 fa eb 07 d0 The problem only seems to appear with this one program and everyone knows how vital it is!I've already run SFC, reinstalled Windows, reinserted the memory, deleted (in safe mode) all monitors and display adapters and reinstalled them, deleted all newer fonts,.. with no change.M$ won't provide the hotfix.GDI.EXE and GDI32.DLL Dated 4/23/99Any Ideas? Thx in advance.
Drugwash Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Have you tried replacing the aforementioned files with their Windows ME counterparts? But please check dependencies for each of the ME ones first (use Dependency Walker or anything similar), and upgrade as necessary, to make sure they'll work.I had to upgrade those (and other) files in order to be able to run certain plug-ins in an application, and they work fine.

erpdude8 Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Firstly - Windows ME was probably the worst choice you could have made! Blue screens EVERYWHERE...but we cant help that now uh, I HARDLY get blue screen problems on my WinME machine, LaRcOs. I have WinME pre-installed on my HP Pavilion 7840 machine and all the hardware seem to like WinME.hutrijo did not mention how fast the cpu was and how much memory (RAM) installed on his Fujitsu Simens Scaleo machine < is this computer a desktop or a laptop?WinME seems to hate older machines slower than a Pentium II with insufficient amount of RAM.
