is there a way to rename DVD-CD drives?

i did download a vbs file from kelly's site but wen i finished the computer

won't shut down anymore :)

so is there a easy way to do this :rolleyes:

try a registry compare utility, like RegSnap or RegShot

it will take a b4 and after snapshot of your registry, so it can be imported by a reg file

explain rename pls?

normally the drives will get the name of the cd placed in the drive

other than that u might see bugs like drive not refreshing its contents..

why'd u want to rename them?

how long do u stare at the drives :) joking...

i have 2 burners and 1 dvd rom and 4 virtual drives

every drive's name is cd-rom-drive

so see my prob. :)

yes there is a way..via the registry..for instance my Yamaha F1E is Drive H..I renamed if with the following registry entry

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons\H\DefaultLabel]

@="Yamaha F1E"

I also did my Photosmart...Plextor and Liteon...attached is the results in MyComputer.
