add item to context menu

does anyone know how to add a context menu command to any file.

i know there is a way to do it in the registry.

please help!

Browse To HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT -> * -> shell

Then create a new Key, and name it what you want the entry in the context menu to be called. Then create a new Key called command, and double click the default entry. Set the value to the path of your program with a "%1" after it.

"C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\(Z)\ResHacker\ResHacker.exe" "%1"

Now when you right click any file you should be able to open it in the program of your choice.

Thank you ShunDi. It works! I was just needing a way to put makecab.exe into my context menu so i can make new cabs for my unattended cd the lazy way.

does anyone know if it's possible to add an icon to the context menu options? i wanted to add "Open With Notepad" with the notepad icon, and "Open With..." with a standard exe icon, same for the "Open Command Window Here" tweak.
