GreenMachine
@johann83: First look at your logs files do not show anything. I have made a few more changes, and will be posted an updated version of XPCTEST either today or tomorrow. I did just test this latest version, and did not have the symptoms you mention. I have also switched from file size to check sum for download file integration, so in this way we can be sure we are using the exact same failsafe list. So hang tight a bit, and then please test the next release, and see if the problem is still there. I'll get back to you ...@mmarable: Basically, when run from a "clean installation" (e.g. no XPCREATE.INI) XPCREATE will look for the XP source, and copy it into the XPCREATE directory. It will update/create XPCREATE.INI to reflect the new source location. Also, when a service pack is slipstreamed, it is slipstreamed into the source, not the working copy, and the service pack is put aside for safe keeping in the OLDFILES directory. In short, yes, the XP CD is only needed the first time.
GreenMachine
@johann83: From the website, I quote:System Requirements: - Windows 2000/XP/2003 Server Operating System. - Several Gigabyte of available hard disk space. - NTFS file system with 8.3 File Name Creation enabled. - A CD-R Recorder.I know which one is missing ...http://greenmachine.msfnhosting.com/XPCREATE/begin.htm
johann83
Heh. You've got to be kidding... I guess I should RTFM, huh? Anyhow, I re-enabled 8.3 name creation and will try again. Since my current install is hosed up, I'd rather get it straightened tonight, but I'll still try out the new version when you post it. Thanks for the help.MattPS Out of curiosity, how did you know what the problem was?
GreenMachine
Long file names in SVCPACK.INF. I always used to disable 8.3, but that with XCOPY is a very nice and easy way to rename the files for ISO compatability. You are fine using either version at the moment: the end result has not changed. mmarable
I like this GM, I really like this. I first tried XPCreate when it still had menus and such and I've got to tell you, going to this current method has been fantastic. XPCreate is well thought out and executed very cleanly. You've done a excellent job, GM.
