Can anyone help me? I am being driven mad trying to install XP Pro corporate on my machine. It is a 5.1 build 2600.

The problem I am having is that if I press the F5 key at the time it asks if I want to press the F6 key it lets me scroll down and enable the ACPI uniprocessor PC, but after that it doesn't give me an option to install the Sata drivers so it says it cannot continue because there is no valid drive or something like that.

If I press the F6 and install the Sata drivers it gives me no option to change the settings to ACPI uniprocessor PC so when the install is complete on shutting down it comes up that it is now safe to turn your computer off, instead of turning off like when the ACPI uniprocessor PC option is activated.

I have one copy that is very messed up which did install properly when the Sata drive was first installed, it did this by itself I just loaded the Sata drivers and it automatically enabled the ACPI uniprocessor PC option. But for some reason it will not do it again.

I have tried using the Maxblast facility and written zero's to the whole drive to make it like it left the factory but nothing seem's to work.

The only way to make it shut down properly is for me to reinstall the ghost image of the messed up drive info.

I forgot to mention one probably important thing when I click: my computer, properties, device manager, then click my computer on the messed up one that shuts down properly it shows as ACPI uniprocessor PC but on the one that doesn't shut down from a clean install it just shows as a standard computer.

Thanks in advance.

Go to control panel, power, and the apm tab.

Select (tick) apm, then apply, then your comp will shutdown properly.

If you use regshot to capture this info you could then do it automatically in your cd!

Your using XP Pro Corp and you don't know how to do this ??? :)

for the sata drivers, just integrate them into the xp cd so that you don't have to press F6 and supply a driver floppy...
