Hello, I apologize if this topic has been addressed in previous topics, but I could not find anything in the search of the forum.

I just setup a brand new domain in AD (new tree in a new forest). I go and try to create a user, and I get hit with 'Windows cannot create the user b/c the password does not meet the complexity requirements."

I goto the security for the domain and disable anything to do with the user complexity in the GPO. Still the same problem!

This is my first at bat with Win2K3 and AD, but with my previous Win2K server, I created users no problem! Is there a change for the Server 2003 version?

Is there some default setting in AD that I am overlooking?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Win2K3 requires strong passwords for Users. Don't try and over ride this feature as it is there for your Network's protection. Also no more Blank or Null passwords.

ofcourse marsden is right,

but if you still want to weaken your passwords, look in the local policy of the domaincontroller.

you will find the setting there
