I get the some of the visual effect tweaks not working.

and the "Do Not Start MS-Messenger with Outlook Express"

In your Commands file I see that:

REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\install\Run.reg

But your reg file is called:

runonce.reg

What visual effects aren't working?

as far as I can see your ShowSuperhidden will not work.

I had this problem and used the following code to make it work:

Ok well i'm really goin crazy trying to make these DARN visual settings work for me... REALLY !

Ok now all that i ask for is to set the visual effects to custom and select only the LAST 4 effects in the effects tab, and disable all the rest, now i'm **** sure that this cant be achieved thru registry...

SO, is it possible for anyone to create a VB script to do that ?

Please lets put an end to this visual nonsense once and for all...

What works for me is exporting this reg key:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VisualEffects]

and then import these settings from cmdlines.txt.

Any HKCU settings won't stick if imported from a GUIRunOnce or RunOnceEx batch.

@Edit: I don't use the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE...VisualEffects settings and mine work just fine.

I only want the last 4 options selected (not in the reg context but the visual effects page in system properties)

I'm really goin crazy trying to figure this thing out since ages now.. :)

What you should do is launch RegEdit and navigate to

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VisualEffects]

Right click on that key and select Export then save.

I import my tweaks from cmdlines.txt as I mentioned earlier.

cmdlines.txt

[COMMANDS]"REGEDIT /S regtweaks.reg"

Place both the regtweaks.reg file (or whatever you named yours) and cmdlines.txt in the $oem$ folder.

You also need to export this key from your registry:

(settings removed as they are not necessary)
