TSNH Posted August 14 Posted August 14 I have a 120Hz monitor and while games are indeed smoother than with 60FPS, On Windows 8, 7, and Vista, Aero animations still feel limited to 60FPS. Is it possible to make them actually utilize high refresh rate? or maybe make them 2x faster and increase their FPS that way?
superleiw Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I had come across another issue related to Dual Monitors / DWM Lag on W7 : https://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/414954-dwm-exe-aero-desktop-composition-lag-has-anyone-figured-out.html Maybe this can help with your problem as well : Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\Schedule] "FrameRateMin"=dword:00000078 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Avalon.Graphics] "Force10Level9"=dword:00000001 For FrameRateMin... 0000003c = 60, if you run your monitors at 60hz. 00000078 = 120, if you run at 120hz. 00000090 = 144, if you run at 144hz. 1

Unfortunately setting these values changes nothing (tested on 8.0 and vista). To verify this this setting doesn't change the framerate, I also set that to 5FPS and it still felt like 60. Animations on my PC are by no means sluggish they are just 60FPS not 120, and this setting might be more related to GPU power saving features But that was a good one to try, so if any one of you has more of these, I'll happily test them too.
