Windows Installer error 2755, 1632

So I've decided to finally try to install Windows XP on Lenovo G580.

Because i had some problems with newer software, i had to do via WINSetupfromUSB. Figured it out second time by pressing F6 and installing SATA/AHCI Intel drivers.

For triple boot, i'm planning to use 3 partitions.

1st is 32GB FAT32 for XP (compatibility), other two are NTFS for Windows 7 and for trying the 10.

Drivers were a bit of pain to install, but i did it with other ways.

Problem is that when i tried to install Visual C++ 2010 Redist, i found out about this error written on the title of the thread.

Then it happened again when i tried to install Office 2007 Enterprise, ANY version of NET. Framework, Adobe Reader XI and some XPS Essentials pack. At least i have the wireless functionality enabled...

I think it looks like i have problems with folder permissions and the TEMP folder being full (it happens even after i run %TEMP% and empty the files in the folder), but i will say that i haven't installed all updates for SP3.

For any precautions, I've stopped doing any upgrade until i figure out why does it happens now, when i didn't really had problems with that thing...

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

👍

P. S. I couldn't insert some screenshots directly, but when i did some additional work i will pull some screenshots from the machine itself.

screenshots before (like before you clicked) and when the error happens (like at 10 % , like after the ending ect.)

a smartphone picture is already enough

(this link is valid for 30 days i think)

There are some screenshots that I've shot on the phone, for some reason i can't write message properly on Mypal 29...

Off-topic, but why do you need that old browser anyway? Get rid of that, and use Mypal 68 instead. https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal68/releases

Thanks for the advice, I've had that Mypal version downloaded offline and i was settings up the XP,, so i probably forgot to update it.

I think that's non SSE2 version.

If you are referring to mypal-68.14.4.en-US.win32-sse.zip, yes, it's a version for processors with SSE instruction set only.

Maybe you installed an update for Posready 2009?  KB4494528 Update of the POSReady 2009 OS security system, 2019-04.   You need to register it and restart the computer

regsvr32 MSI.DLL

KB4494528 - this is the famous "surprise" from Microsoft, for the final termination of support. ,,😀

never knew about that, but nope, it still shows that same error.

In that case, I don't know.

Installers are old versions, not updated?  MS has updated some installers and they require sha2-code.

For example, I downloaded (from the old link) Visual Studio 2010/2012/2013/.… and could not install them in Windows -XP/Vista7sp1.

In Windows Vista and 7 sp1, they were installed only after the SHA-2Code update.

For Windows XP, it was necessary to find older installers.

you wrote "Problem is that when i tried to install Visual C++ 2010 Redist"

but thats a own installer its called something like "vcredist_x86.exe"

but then in the screenshots you tryed to install some kind of the "dot.net framework 4 installers" later on "adobe reader xi"

that raise the question why you said the VC 2010 redist is the problem - while you tryed to install different things

while framework said the disc is full or inaccessable

adobe said something like it cant connect the update server (if i got this one it right)

there are installers need internet access

is it a windows 32 bit XP or a win 64 bit XP ?

32 bit framework 4 to try (KB982670):

https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=0d076fbf-33cd-4b86-9288-ab31899b74da

64 bit version (KB982670 x64):

https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=434aa8fa-b425-47a9-be5b-dd000b66c6ed

one more thing about the x64 bit version of XP - that time everybody used a 32 bit system thats why there are 32 bit version of the next following operating systems

that time we could not find any real advantage to a x64 bit system

therefore x64 XP missing many fixes that XP got up to 2019 - the people didnt care about it much - seems microsoft neither

you can run a chrome 32 bit version on a 64 bit machine np, but if you set the compiler to "x64" you cant run it in 32 bits - while giving litterally no advantage

chrome is running new executables (aka starting up chrome.exe severial times) - and those all got 2-4 gb room (that is a lot for a app) 2 GB if you want just userspace , 3 GB if you use the large page version (then the userspace is 3 GB for each startet app), 4 GB if you include the entire address room directly

however those executables can point to different memory - therefore it can pass the 32 bit limit of 4 GB , by starting up multiple executables (only 1 way of severial ways, as paging can point to different memory too(paging was a thing in the past - it seems it got forgotten there was for example a 64 kb vs 1 mb paging version, just to make an example))

let us know if these framework installers work or not ty

Yes, XP is 32bit, for your consideration, and i forgot that my Celeron on G580 supports 64bit...

I downloaded your version of 32bit NET. 4 Framework and it still showed that error.

And yes, Visual C++ 2010, Reader XI, Office 2007 and NET. 4 doesn't work at all...

I think it has to do with admin access thing... %TEMP% folder is clean tho... And yes, i have an DusanVicic admin username already...

well it says check to free disc space

that´s an easy one
start -> my computer -> (rightclick local disc C:)) -> properties (free disc space)

for the permissions you look the folders if something is wrong
check all permissions
C:\Documents and Settings\
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\

you look there if you have the right permissions

"All Users" describe you not logged as administrator
you can try "right click and start as administrator on one of these installers"
or you can change the user to administrator and see if the installation works there
that is somewhere start->Log Off where you can switch the user

Added on Administrator and on DusanVicic full controls, restarted the system, AND started with admin rights the Reader XI setup.
Then this happens. Even though I've already got admin rights, and it was the first OS out of 7 and 10, shows this error...
Great, just great.... And it happens with other setups also.
