spawncampingnoob Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 (edited) i might be absolutely retarded, but i can't for the life of me figure out how to install the modded nvidia drivers for vista (specifically version 378.66 off of the extended kernel website). running either NvContainerSetup.exe or NvCplSetupInt.exe gives me a uac prompt, followed by the programs terminating instantly. and there's so many .inf files that, if i have to install it manually through the device manager, i have no clue which one i should select. i know it's a bit of a dumb question, but how on earth do i get this driver installed? edit: just installed the extended kernel, and now the drivers work perfectly Edited August 3, 2023 by spawncampingnoob
Novek Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Use the nv_dispi driver if it gives you a warning about it not being digitally signed click the install button
spawncampingnoob Posted August 2, 2023 Author Posted August 2, 2023 (edited) 3 hours ago, Novek said: Use the nv_dispi driver if it gives you a warning about it not being digitally signed click the install button just installed nv_dispi.inf, the installation seemed to go smoothly but upon a restart i'm now getting a "windows failed to start" error with the error code "0xc000000f". i'm not entirely sure if it's relevant, but i'm using uefiseven version 1.30 to boot my copy of vista alongside arch linux, so maybe that's causing an issue? it might not be though, i'm not entirely sure nevermind the boot issue (windows randomly overwrote uefiseven for some reason), but now windows is throwing me another issue, that being the driver not actually loading properly. device manager now lists my gpu properly as a 1050 ti, but gives me a yellow warning icon next to that and "error 39" in the details menu. then again, windows was throwing out an error about the gpu even with the standard vga drivers, so i don't think it's exclusive to nvidia's Edited August 2, 2023 by spawncampingnoob failing to boot was completely unrelated
D.Draker Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 I ported a newer driver, check here. https://msfn.org/board/topic/184056-breakthrough-p2-new-pascal-special-microsoft-nvidia-driver-port-for-vista-x64/ 1
