adata Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Are there somewhere or has anyone created Canon Lide 20 scanner driver for windows XP x64? Manufacturer has only 32bit version, for xp 64bit version there is no driver: https://www.canon-europe.com/support/consumer_products/products/scanners/lide_series/canoscan_lide_20.html?type=drivers&language=en&os=windows xp (64-bit) For the newer model of the scanner Lide 90 there are driver for XP x64 https://www.canon-europe.com/support/consumer_products/products/scanners/lide_series/canoscan_lide_90.html?type=drivers&language=en&os=windows xp (64-bit) However, they do not fit the older scanner Lide 20. Maybe it is possible to somehow modify the Lide 90 scanner driver to fit the Lide 20 scanner for XP x64?
WSC4 Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 That CanoScan Lide 20 was released 20 years ago and by 2010 it was considered extinct. I just looked at the driver CNQL20.INF file and windows 98 and Windows 2000 are listed only. However, the scanner would have worked with Windows 98 through to Windows 7 all 32-bit. Windows 8 and above have no drivers listed. The CanoScan LiDE 90 driver for XP 64-bit. Instead of running the setup file, did you run the Hardware Update Wizard, Don't search, Have Disk and select CNQ2412.INF file?
adata Posted August 29, 2023 Author Posted August 29, 2023 I connected the scanner, went into the device manager, pointed to the folder where the CNQ2412.inf driver file is located but the system said it could not find the driver. So as you can see it is incompatible with Canon Lide 20 Any other options?
WSC4 Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 Sorry, I did not get your post via my e-mail. The follow topic may have been off accidentally. Instead of "Search for the best drivers... Click "Don't search I will choose the driver to install" Then click next> The next box may or may not show a list of scanners like the above. Do not click Next>. Click Have Disk... The next box will show Install From Disk. Browse... to the scanner .INF file and open that. A yellow warning box may say not digitally signed. Install it anyway. Any luck?
WSC4 Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 (edited) //UPDATE// I apologise, but this will not work, and that is why you got the Cannot Install this Hardware. I rushed into it and did not think, sorry.. There are no 64-bit drivers in that CNQ2412.INF file. Do you have a copy of XP 32-bit installed on another machine? Edited September 6, 2023 by WSC4
JohnnyM Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I have the Scanner Canon Lide20 and am using Windows 11 x 64, latest version and my Scanner is working perfectly. I'm using VueScan v 9. It installs it's own drivers and picks up the Lide20 instantly. Enjoy!
JohnnyM Posted March 26 Posted March 26 so it is certainly not extinct! I have just scanned some docs and emailed them about 30 mins ago. Do your homework?
