yourtech
Here's one for example: I've tried a few already and they all seem to have memory issuesneedless to say it prevents the install from being started (or completed). Here are a few boot disks i've tested one of which worked (install was successfull) but even that boot disk is unreliable (no longer works for me regardless of how many times i've reformatted/remade it and even edited it) Here are some of the bootdisks i've tried:Symantec Ghost v8 Drive Mapping & LAN boot disks:(not enough mem to run setup properly)Teledata Consulting Inc:http://tdonline.com/utilities.htm(worked once, but no longer works properly for some reason)see: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=18255&st=30Universal TCP-IP Network Bootdisk for M$ Networks:http://members.iinet.net.au/~bdriver/bootd...nload.htm#build(won't even boot - "system disk error")(theres some info about making your own cdrom boot disks there also)Note: I have (and actually working on another) dual boot (XP1st/2K2nd) boot system with a System Commander MBR installed but it made no difference on the attempt that worked. (Not sure if it's making any difference now but i'm using it to hide the 2K partition from XP so that the drive letters and programs partitions work out properly).I realize this is a slightly more complicated setup (but it's worth the grief) Any help would be greatly appreciated Edited April 24, 2004 by yourtech

Professor Frink
Is it possible that you're having problems because your folder and files are more than 8 characters? After all, when the XP install starts, you are in DOS mode. Here's my setup. First of all, at the end of my initial network floppy boot process, I map a drive to the installation point via the bootdisk's autoexec.bat. I go to the mapped drive, then I use the "change directory" command to send me to the i386 folder. In my example, the shared folder "winxp$" is right at the root of the server's C: drive:net use X: \\server\winxp$ /persistent:no /yesX:cd i386In the i386 folder I have both "unattend.bat" and "unattend.txt". The txt file needs no explanation, of course. The unattend.bat contains the following:x:\i386\winnt.exe /s:x:\i386 /u:x:\i386\unattend.txtSo when the floppy process is done and I'm sitting in the i386 folder, I just launch unattend.bat.Sorry if I'm repeating stuff you already know. But maybe this will help.
