Norton and Avast are merging

The combination should lead to antivirus products that include the benefits of Avast’s focus on privacy and NortonLifeLock’s experience in identity,

well if we ignore avast owning advertising company and selling user data and lifelock before norton and their social security number scandal (ceo posted social security number internet claiming nobody can abuse it) then yes. Avast is bloat nowadays and norton always been bloat so we can only wonder what will happen. I stopped using avast on version 12 I think which started show popup ads on free edition. I liked media player interface avast (up to 4.8) most. Was simple yet still intuitive UI and worked down Windows 98. After it became more and more bloated. 4.8 worked until 2017 on defintion updates.

Avast sucks anymore, anyway. Welp, time to finally drop Avast products on my remaining machines. Can anyone recommend a better alternative to CCleaner?

very old ccleaner is fine to older machines. For newer try one called bleachbit. It is free and open source. Though learn how it works before using it.
