Jaguarek62 Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Greetings, I like the behavior of windows 8.0. Windows 8.0 automatically pins every single new application into metro interface. Is there a way to make 8.1 to do the same thing? Thanks
AeroSeeker Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 (edited) Like, automatically pin in the All Programs folder or in Start screen main? EDIT: Found this: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-performance/how-do-i-automatically-pin-an-application/4f2cff6d-7fc4-4448-99e3-5143c61a4fe0 "Microsoft actually blogged about this in the "Engineering Windows 7" blog. There's also no way to programmatically self-pin your own icon to the Taskbar in Windows 7 or higher. According to the blog, it was in direct response to programs that "spammed" the quick launch toolbar, and to prevent such behavior by programs going forward. I can't speculate to why 8.0 didn't enforce this, but 8.1 returns to the Windows 7 method of "no auto-pin". Edited February 3, 2021 by AeroSeeker

So I can't revert it to 8.0 behavior?

Maybe with another program I don't know about. Classic Shell MAY have an option for this, but I can't check right now since I'm not at my desktop at the moment. Edited February 8, 2021 by AeroSeeker
