A new computer virus is spreading across the internet.

The Frethem worm exploits a known vulnerability in Outlook that allows attachments to open automatically.

Experts Activis say it surfaced in Africa last week but is now spreading internationally.

It does not possess a dangerous payload, but mails itself to all addresses on victims' contacts lists.

Message content varies, but it's identifiable by the attachments 'decrypt-password.exe' and 'password.txt'.

Activis repeats the call for greater vigilance from users.
