AaronXP, here is my suggest

First of all, at the start of CDShell a test verify if the PC is graphic mode compliant. If the answer is yes it will boot on it, and if it's no it will boot on the text mode.

Here is the screen shots... (sorry it's in french) :)

Graphic mode

Text mode (the screen copies are a bit flattened, sorry)

So as you can see, my text mode uses menus, IMO far more convenient than the classical CDShell screens.

Indeed if you want to test... here is my cdshell.ini file :)

Enjoy!

P.S. 1: this text mode menus come from ZULU NINER...

...but have been modified to fix a bug and add new features as the possibility the set choices without sub menus (sub choices).

P.S. 2: A detailed topic on the subject for French people can be found here...

nice work :)

convert -csi2bmp -o output.bmp input.csi

For the graphic mode, to convert a BMP image (256 colors max - 640x480) to a CSI one, it's "convert -bmp2csi -o output.bmp input.csi" :)

But that's not really new, IMO the most impressive is the text mode. It's the first time I see something like that with CDShell :D

Have you tested my CDShell.ini?

Nearly...

The splash screen before (if the PC is compliant), and the other screens after.

and if so how did you get it like that...

Check my CDShell.ini.

Except what Alanoll gives you, all you need is in

love your text menu but the cdshell.ini is a pain in the a** to read, no formatting whatsoever. Do you happen to to have a cleaner version that you can post?

That is, if you arestill around...

ArmyDoc, the file is saved in UNIX format, if you open it in a text editor like textpad; www.textpad.com, then save it in PC format it shows up formatted :) Albeit in french...

The way I did is I created boot screen using Autoplay Studio. I took the screenshot of it and resized the image to 640x480 24bit bmp (Adobe Photoshop, saved using max quality into jpg format) and then I reopened using Paint and just resaved the file using 24bit bmp format. Then I converted to *.csi extension, and placed into BOOT folder. When the computers boots up from DVD it loads that image. Just make sure that the corresponding letters (choices) on the image matches to the cdshell.ini script, and that's all. It's not a big deal...
