help choosing codec

Currently creating an Unattended XP cd and am wondering what codec to install with it. There are so many to choose, K-lite, Divx 5.1 bundel, Xvid pack, Ligos Indeo, DivX Total Pack etc.

Is the difference the quality of en- and de-coding?

Is there on type that contains ALL the codec needed?

Which one do you use and why?

P.s. I tryed installing the K-lite codec 2.25 unattended but kept getting an error linked with the file iac25_32.ax.

install ffdshow and you are all set for decoding, as for encoding, i prefer xvid

Get the latest K-Lite Mega Codec Pack (beta builds) from here.

(I think you need to register)

i had the same error codeblue (iac25_32.ax), to fix it i just ran the install before a few other programs, might have been a program using that file for a minute, not sure why it happened, but for codecs i get on perfectly with these:

• K-Lite Codec Pack 2.25 Full
  
• QuickTime Alternative 1.32
  
• Real Alternative 1.22
  
• Shockwave & Flash Players

the codec pack installs Media Player Classic, which I play pretty much everything with. I used to use Nimo Codec Pack, but prefer the K-Lite one.

paul3vanz, I already moved K-lite above some apps but recieved the same error. I will try installing it first, before any other app. If is doesnt work i will have to go with another.
