well, i have asked this allready on another board bu no solution

i have a C partition with win98

and D with Win XP

but when i deleted the C partition (was a stupid accident)

and reinstalled win98 on there, then with recovery consoloe i restored boot.ini

but now xp doenst want to boot up, it stays as a black screen

Copy NTLDR and ntoskrnl back to the root o C:\

i have that 2 files, its missing something else

cause, when i try safe mode, it starts booting some files but then it stops

Did you fixboot and fixmbr from the recovery console?

Also what does your boot.ini look like?

win xp pro is server 2003, that boots up perfect

win2 is XP i gues

Win 3 is windown neptune

my boot.ini is allright

its strange it doesnt want to boot when io got c deleted and restored the boot files (server 2003 works again) except xp

I would say to get your boot.ini in order, know what OS's are whom, then try to reinstall windows XP, Just one more question, when you are using the RC what disc are you using a 2003 or a XP?

xp, i dont have a 2003 disk, i installed from the extracted iso

i know reinstall would work, but i dont want to do that...

thee has to be some way to fix it

is there some tool that can debug the boot up and see what files arent there or something?
