XtremeMaC Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 Hi therei want my desktop to be splitted into 2 or more parts i mean i want to use the right part of the desktop for my gaming shortcuts folders etc.upper part for msfn middle part this/thatetc. i know i can manually place them but i want to align them (when i remove a file from the desktop i want the next item to be placed there) well i could use the auto arrange option for this but it aligns everything on the desktopi don't want to use multi desktop.so is there any software that makes this possible? Thanks
HyDeNCiTy Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 Well, I dunno of any desktop software that can do that, but I did read an article on PC Mag that can save u search time. The writer pointed out that you can create a desktop wallpaper on photoshop or something that has sections like this:http://common.ziffdavisinternet.com/util_g...&i=64016,00.gifSaves u the hassle of installing programs... I hide my desktop so I can see my wallpaper clearly... So u might wanna create folders for ur shortcuts... and label them... Maybe someone will post some sort of software that can help u out, but these r some options.
XtremeMaC Posted April 5, 2004 Author Posted April 5, 2004 thanks for the suggestion but i'm not going to do that. what? i have to resize the sections when i put another short-cut no way!i once tried active desktop and put html's and links to programs but that just took so many rams and most of the app's i couldn't launch cause i don't know how to launch a file from html(it always tries to save it with a href) anyhow i didn't try to learn it bc it took to much ram and etc.any other suggestions ?
Ausmith1 Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 The latest nVidia ForceWare drivers do something like what you are describing... I think...Check out Display Gridlines
XtremeMaC Posted April 6, 2004 Author Posted April 6, 2004 no it only organizes the software's positioni just want to organize the icon's on the desktop
Datalore Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 Maybe you can code your own AveDesk or ObjectDesktop applet... I have no idea how much work that'd be, but it's worth looking in to.
XtremeMaC Posted April 6, 2004 Author Posted April 6, 2004 hmm i'll try that sounds complicated but haven't tried it....thanks for the suggestion.
