hardware profiles

under 'hardware profiles' on a tab in the properties of my computer.

i just wanted to know if you can set 2 profiles for say work and home, and have them boot into a totally environment, e.g. different programs, settings, etc.

i just thought i remembered seing something like this on my friends laptop.

u can have as many profiles as u want

just copy the existing one and change the name of the others

i don't know the rest though I know u can set it to start with different services (blkviper.com)

and i think since its hardware profile i don think it might not have anything to do with software.. i'm not sure.

Say you have a cd burner but you do not want another user to be able to utilize it. Just disable it in the hardware profile. Other things like video cards. Video card drivers can be profiled for games or web site development. Things like that.

All a hardware profile is is a copy of the current control set, which is only used for drivers. To use different software and desktop appearance you want another user profile.

also they hold a verson of what services are enabled or disbled. (NOTE* all it does is if you disble a services in the profile it is like it was disbled as a startup type).

goto http://www.blackviper.com/ and look for services for more on this use of hardware profiles. (I use hardware profiles this way)
