I don't think it is a "problem". I have noticed that was true for years. I always thought one was for Windows Explorer and the other was the shell itself, (ie the desktop, taskbar, etc.).

Cheers and Regards

ok time to bump

finally found what is causing this, and this is affected by ALL win7 systems out there

if you have a browser with DL manager (and all of them do now), or if you use torrent client, or anything simmiliar

and if you right click on your download/file being downloaded, and do "Open Folder" or "Open Path"

it will open the folder of file you clicked on and with that new instance of explorer.exe

One of the options in

Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options... -> View -> Advanced settings

is

Launch folder windows in a separate process

which I think is a good thing. Could that be what is causing this "problem" for you? Personally, I don't understand why you think it is a problem.

Cheers and Regarads

I have it disabled :P

its not problem as problem, more like annoyance and classic winOS distrust

as when I see such cloning, always kicks in either a malware or some process that is digging where shouldn't
