ridiculous isnt it, and guess what, it doesnt work,

me and one other guy are working on the unattended install of over 500 pc's, we have over 30 different laptops and this is the list of all the drivers we need. i need some help here..

i have read thru the forums and correct me if im wrong, but,

All i have to do is make a folder call 001_Chipset, 002_Video and so on and put JUST the INF files in the path, i cant put the dll's cats, cabs whatever else it needs in subdirectories (multiple dub dirs to prevent overwriting same file names)

will this work?

i'm not sure, but i think you can keep only drivers used by the os you want to install.... and make one cd featuring good drivers by os....

for example:

UTILITY==>Utl

etc...

The problem is the length of the OemPnPDriversPath line. This line can only be 4096 characters in length.

Looks like you will need to look into shortening your line, consolidating the drivers, or using one of the mentioned alternate methods from an earlier post.

The path only need to point to the directory where the INF file is located. Subfolders can be used, but the INF file must have the paths in it.

If the drivers DON'T overwrite eachother, it is safe to put them all in one folder, instead of seperate folders. WindowsXP finds the best match when it searches.

Also, if you use the 001_Chipset naming scheme, do keep in mine that you don't need Chipset, just the number. the Chipset is just for identification later on.

Also keep in mind you don't have to give a path to each folder

I'm guessing this is all one drive. You only need the path to the directory that has the driver you wish to use. In this case perhaps the one ending in WinXP?
