Professor Frink Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 1. I tried the "Enable Quick Launch" tweak that someone posted (I forget where), and it worked for the local admin account, but if I run that on a new user account it does nothing. Is it supposed to work every time?2. Same goes with the Taskbar Unlock -- it doesn't seem to work when I run it under my own account:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]"TaskbarSizeMove"=dword:00000001[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]"LockTaskbar"=dword:000000003. Is there a way to set the default screensaver to "None" by default for all users, instead of the "Windows XP" one?I know there are more, but I can't think of them right now...
CuBie Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 Try doing them under local machine - ive had a look in the reg and they *Should* work..If it dosent work, don't go shouting at me tho! Later,Chris.
XtremeMaC Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 well u mean u log in and merge the .reg file if that's what u're doing u need to logoff and on in order for it to work.
Professor Frink Posted March 17, 2004 Author Posted March 17, 2004 well u mean u log in and merge the .reg file if that's what u're doing u need to logoff and on in order for it to work. The taskbar reg edit runs once during the install (through the cmdlines.txt file), along with all the other reg tweaks. I then log on as the local administrator and the taskbar is unlocked. But if I reboot and log on to the domain with my user account, the taskbar is now locked. Now a big deal, but it would be nice to have one less thing to tinker with.
Professor Frink Posted March 18, 2004 Author Posted March 18, 2004 Now another one has popped up -- sometimes when I run my install, the standard XP theme isn't applied, instead it's a "Modified Theme". Maybe that's a result of some other reg tweak I'm applying?I'll post my entire tweak.reg file if it would help.
Dollars22 Posted March 27, 2004 Posted March 27, 2004 more info on modified theme and why it shows would be good, i'm getting the same problem... please help... i searched and searched, i found this thread....
DarkBringer Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 3. Is there a way to set the default screensaver to "None" by default for all users, instead of the "Windows XP" one? This is an easy one. Import via cmdlines.txt.[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]"ScreenSaveActive"="0""ScreenSaverIsSecure"="0""SCRNSAVE.EXE"=""ScreenSaverIsSecure:0 unchecks "On resume, display Welcome screen".1 checks it. (Default)
