Background Noise from speakers

Featured Replies

Not sure if this is a XP isue or not.

Whenever I turn up the computer volume (playing MP3, music CD, etc.), I get background noise- its like interference from my computer.

This happens through desktop speakers or Headset connected directly to CDROM.

Any thoughts on this?

Weird thing, this sometimes happens to me too, --ONLY-- when using winamp's version 2.80 player..

By any chance are you using this?

cableghost - Are you using a creative labs sound blaster card?

  • Author

yes indeed- AudioPCI 64. I've checked at Creative website, and there are still no new drivers for my version (ES1370 engine)

move the sound card to another pci slot away from graphics cards and other cards you have (specially ones with fans on) if at all possible, see if that helps

I was going to suggest the same thing, i had the same thing on my other comp, sound card was wdged between network card and graphics card :hohum So i had to change that and all was working fine again.

sound card was between graphics card and network ... I moved sound card 3 slots from other pci cards and I do get a dramatic decrease in the background noise, though not completely.

Thanks guys!!!

Regarding the Winamp question ... this was occuring no matter what I was using, even in the case of no music, if I turned up speakers, there was background noise, for which now is ok.

oh god not the dreadful crative curse again, I thought we got ride of that dam cards promblems and the noise background. dam creative.
