Tripredacus
In parts of the ADK it talks about the ability to change apps in Metro, but I can't actually find any documentation as to where to start. That part may be incomplete or I don't have the info.
loki9
I'm not very literate when it comes to digging through windows files and such but I did find this that may be useful to someone. I found the location of all the windows apps on start screen they're located here"C:\Program Files\WindowsApps" *You have to give yourself permissions as this folder is "access denied" the WindowsApps folder is hidden as well.and I also found this path, which contains .xml files for those apps and that is located here"C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\AppRepository\"And lastly the registry location"HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\SystemAppData"Hopefully this helps someone figure out how to change the icons, cuz this as well bothers me.attempting to look through the files seems to me like, the icon all comes from the .xml file looks like they use a bg color and then just a regular image and the same for a splash screen which happens when you click on it. Like I said I don't know much just throwing this all out here. Edited August 6, 2012 by loki9

Tripredacus
Not sure if this will be helpful.http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-edit-and-customize-metro-apps-ui-in-windows-8/The idea that the UI is back to being HTML based seems to be a security hole waiting to happen. Wasn't that the reason why Active Desktop was ditched?
