Is it possible to use Windows Mail for IE8 in IE9 ?

I recently installed Internet Explorer 9 in a machine bought

in 2010 with Windows 7 Home (x86) and IE8 preinstalled.

While Windows Mail seems untouched by the installation

(the folder and files remain as they were), IE9 is

completely oblivious of it. Is there a way to set Windows

Mail (not Windows Live Mail) as the default, or at least as

an optional, e-mail client under IE9 ? I could not even find

Windows Mail in the "manage extensions" list of IE9.
