transferring favorites from msn to internet explorer

I have msn through verizon; however msn is discontinuing service through verizon and so I have to move to hotmail. I want to move my favorites from msn to internet explorer. I found directions how to do this which is:

1. go to folders on my computer and check the box that says: "show hidden files and drives.

2.un check "hide protected operating system files"

Then it tells me to go to C: drive and open "documents and settings" however there is a lock on documents and settings and I cannot get into the file to perform the other operations required to move the favorites.

Question how can I unlock the file "documents and settings" or is there another way to copy my favorites and move them to internet explorer?? In control panel I have myself indicated as "administrator"

Thanks...hope someone can help me with this problem.

You can find your Favorites inside: C:\%userprofile%\Favorites

And "takeownership" if you want look at "Documents and settings" folder!
