vinifera Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 (edited) story goesmy win7 dvd is rt7lite-d, thus it does not have recovery options on itnow since I read that winre.wim is working(?) with that recovery thing on OS DVD, then I have no use of it on my hard driveso question is can I then delete it or windows loads this file in normal mode too ? Tripredacus Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 In this case, you are safe to delete the winre.wim. Windows won't have a need for it unless you have programmed the recovery options in the BCD.
vinifera Posted November 22, 2011 Author Posted November 22, 2011 (edited) how can I know if something is "programmed" in this BCD as you say ? Edited November 22, 2011 by vinifera
Tripredacus Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 See my screenshots here:Has recovery partition = enabledDoesn't have recovery = disabled
vinifera Posted November 23, 2011 Author Posted November 23, 2011 hmmI have recoveryenabled=yesbut what purpose of that is if my custom DVD can't do repair at all ?i'm bit confused with this
Tripredacus Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 BCDEdit can only show you the options of the OS you are currently booted into.
vinifera Posted December 7, 2011 Author Posted December 7, 2011 any chance you know where to "change" these options ?
Tripredacus Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 What do you want to change? If you want to disable the recovery option, you can run this from an elevated command prompt:reagentc /disable
