LoneCrusader Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 I apologize for bumping this topic, but I have done some further experimenting that is relevant to this subject.First, I retract my previous statement:The only way to get a Scroll Wheel working in Windows 95 is to install Microsoft IntelliPoint 4.0.I have finally had the opportunity to run some tests with the 3rd party drivers listed by jaclaz, and found that this onehttp://it.driverscollection.com/?aid=4107506016957ad05bbd7e3cb71seems to work perfectly for a standard PS2 Wheel Mouse. The other versions of the same driver listed seem to be buggy on a test system. This solution may be the "quickest and simplest" for getting a Wheel Mouse working on 95. While IntelliPoint 4.0 will do the job and add some other features, it requires that IE5 be installed before the installer will even run. I have tested the above driver on a 95C system WITHOUT IE4 or later installed, and it works perfectly. As with IntelliPoint however, the driver will load an EXE file on StartUp and it must be left running in the System Tray to have wheel functionality.Based on my experimentation using 98 INF's and downversioned 98 files, there doesn't seem to be a way to have the functionality without this.

The actual version is set in SCROLL.INI BUT the only seemingly reliable data/dates are seemingly in SETUP.INFThat specific driver that worked for you has in it "Mouse Driver V1.0"-> http://it.driverscollection.com/?aid=4107506016957ad05bbd7e3cb71e-bue Movbit drivers MovBitDrive.zipand:Mfg=AIDEMMouseDriver=4Dmouse.vxdMouseInf=4Dmouse.infDriverDate=3-2-2000PS2InfSection=PS2.InstallSerialInfSection=Serial.InstallPS2Name=Mouse Driver V1.0 (PS/2)SeialName=Mouset Driver V1.0 (SERIAL)The one here: http://radymno.org/sterowniki/Mysz_EasyTouch_5/has also "Mouse Driver V1.0" and files have same dates, so they should be exactly the "same thing" The Pilot mouse pointertovoid initially mentioned seems like the one here :http://driverscollection.com/?H=3%20Button%20Scroll%20Mouse&By=Memorexhttp://driverscollection.com/?file_id=11977Driver3202-2362.exewith "Pilot Mouse V1.00" and:Mfg=Pilot MouseMouseDriver=4Dmouse.vxdMouseInf=4Dmouse.infDriverDate=9-28-1999PS2InfSection=PS2.InstallSerialInfSection=Serial.InstallPS2Name=PS2 Pilot Mouse V1.00SeialName=Serial Pilot Mouse V1.00PnpID=A4W0005The one here: http://yo.flocky.free.fr/periph/Dual%20Souris/has "Dual Wheel Mouse V5.2 (95/98)" and:Mfg=A4TechMouseDriver=4dmouse.vxdMouseInf=4dmouse.infDriverDate=1-23-1998PS2InfSection=PS2.InstallSerialInfSection=Serial.InstallPS2Name=PS2 Wheel Mouse V5.2SeialName=Serial Wheel Mouse V5.2The one here: http://www.modem-drivers.com/drivers/28/28886.htmhas "Dual Wheel Mouse V5.3 (95/98)"and:Mfg=A4TechMouseDriver=4dmouse.vxdMouseInf=4dmouse.infDriverDate=1-23-1998PS2InfSection=PS2.InstallSerialInfSection=Serial.InstallPS2Name=PS2 Wheel Mouse V5.3SeialName=Serial Wheel Mouse V5.3There is another one that you can get here:http://web.archive.org/web/200012050024/http://www.cre.com.tw/english/index.htmvivi-p.exethat has "Scroll Mouse V2.0"and:Mfg=IotaMouseDriver=4Dmouse.vxdMouseInf=4Dmouse.infDriverDate=1-23-1998PS2InfSection=PS2.InstallSerialInfSection=Serial.InstallPS2Name=Scroll Mouse V2.0 (PS/2)SeialName=Scroll Mouse V2.0 (SERIAL)PnpID=IOA0002Besides the same .inf contents, the typo in Se®ialName= makes clear that the source is the same, no matter how they are re-branded, so it seems like they are all the same thingy BUT the file LoneCrusader tested successfully (e-bue Movbit drivers) is the most recent version (notwithstanding the version numbering).jaclaz
