September 16, 201114 yr I've recently reinstalled win xp in my laptop.I had to do it via usb as my cd reader is broken.It all worked except that win xp won't boot if i take out the usb key ( which i've used for installing).It simply says OPERATIVE SYSTEM NOT FOUNDI've tried changing parameters in the boot.ini file... But nothing...I'm lost and don't know what to do...Please help!
September 16, 201114 yr Will the system only boot if that one USB key you used to install with is inserted? Have you tried booting with a different USB key plugged in?
September 17, 201114 yr Did you use special software to prepare the usb drive? And like Trip said does this happen when you boot using other usb drives? This is a strange one You didn't by chance install the os back to the usb drive did you? Not sure how you could but...
