n0xi3
Hey guys,I have managed to get our image working flawless except for one point during the windows installation. The issue is that during the setup, windows try's to login as .\Administrator. For whatever reason it gets stuck and says the password is incorrect. The password is the same as our Administrator password but we are really looking more or less to take this login or pass out of the equation in general when we are pushing images. Is this possible? Thanks for any help!**INFOWe are pushing images using GhostWe are dealing with Domains, but it is connecting after the manual loginThis happens on both our images (Dell // Lenovo)This is our current answer file http://pastebin.com/wGCRp4SA Edited June 17, 2011 by n0xi3
maxXPsoft
Think you may need this instead and can use that during Audit or OOBE<UserAccounts> <AdministratorPassword> <Value>cAB3AEEAZABtAGkAbgBpAHMAdAByAGEAdABvAHIAUABhAHMAcwB3AG8AcgBkAA==</Value> <PlainText>false</PlainText> </AdministratorPassword></UserAccounts> <AutoLogon> <Domain>intra.ecu.edu</Domain> <Enabled>true</Enabled> <LogonCount>3</LogonCount> <Username>Administrator</Username> </AutoLogon>Edit: added autologon Edited June 17, 2011 by maxXPsoft
n0xi3
Added those changes, but problem still existed. After the System is configuring settings page it pops up with the .\Administrator login and says the password we entered was incorrect. I then proceed to login manually and it restarts and everything from there works flawless.=/
maxXPsoft
are you sure you have the word Administratorit's lowercase in your exampleLook at how to make the panther.cmd on a usb or floppy and then you can figure out error in the logsCapture it right at point it errors Edited June 17, 2011 by maxXPsoft
n0xi3
Meant to be uppercase, Ill be sure to edit that. I will take a look at panther.cmd and see what it says. Might not get to this until next week though =( I will be back to update for sure. Do we need to install all of those things in order for the panther.cmd to spit out what were looking for? And are we running this where our answer file is? or on the PC we are trying to push the image to? The instructions got me kind of lost.Ill be sure to update with what we come up with. maxXPsoft
Panther is a folder contains all the setup information as Win is installing. will run at almost any point after setup begins. The .cmd is really handy for figuring out exactly where you error at.usually the error will be in the $Panther\UnattendGC\setupact.logIf you can't find it then post a link or attach the log and I or someone will take a look Edited June 18, 2011 by maxXPsoft
n0xi3
Attached is what we came up with. I am not sure we are running the program correctly. We ran sysprep.exe and then used the cmd file afterwards and it gave us the $Panther folder with some error logs and etc. (the folder is zipped below).I am not really sure what to make out of it, or how it relates to our problem. Any suggestions from here?$Panther.zipWe may need to use it when we are Imaging the computer instead of just running sysprep?2011-06-21 09:24:55, Info [windeploy.exe] ------------------------------------------------2011-06-21 09:24:55, Info [windeploy.exe] WinDeploy.exe launched with command-line []...2011-06-21 09:24:55, Info [windeploy.exe] Making sure that SystemSetupInProgress is cleared.2011-06-21 09:24:55, Info [windeploy.exe] UnattendSearchExplicitPath: Found unattend file at [C:\Windows\Panther\unattend.xml]; examining for applicability.2011-06-21 09:24:55, Info [windeploy.exe] UnattendSearchExplicitPath: Found already-processed unattend file for pass [oobeSystem] at [C:\Windows\Panther\unattend.xml]; skipping...2011-06-21 09:24:55, Info [windeploy.exe] UnattendSearchExplicitPath: [C:\Windows\Panther\unattend.xml] does not meet criteria to be used for this unattend pass.2011-06-21 09:24:56, Info [windeploy.exe] Found no unattend file.2011-06-21 09:24:58, Info [windeploy.exe] Started WinSAT; will need to wait2011-06-21 09:25:15, Info [windeploy.exe] Launching [C:\Windows\system32\oobe\oobeldr.exe /system]...2011-06-21 09:25:15, Info [oobeldr.exe] OOBELdr.exe launched with command-line [/system]...2011-06-21 09:25:15, Info [oobeldr.exe] OrchestrateUpdateImageState: Updating image state from [iMAGE_STATE_SPECIALIZE_RESEAL_TO_OOBE] --> [iMAGE_STATE_UNDEPLOYABLE]2011-06-21 09:25:16, Info [oobeldr.exe] Parsing command line arguments...2011-06-21 09:25:16, Info [oobeldr.exe] Parsing the following command line: [/system]2011-06-21 09:25:16, Info [oobeldr.exe] Status for unattend pass [oobeSystem] = 0x02011-06-21 09:25:16, Info [oobeldr.exe] UnattendSearchExplicitPath: Found unattend file at [C:\Windows\Panther\unattend.xml]; examining for applicability.2011-06-21 09:25:16, Info [oobeldr.exe] UnattendSearchExplicitPath: Found already-processed unattend file for pass [oobeSystem] at [C:\Windows\Panther\unattend.xml]; skipping...2011-06-21 09:25:16, Info [oobeldr.exe] UnattendSearchExplicitPath: [C:\Windows\Panther\unattend.xml] does not meet criteria to be used for this unattend pass.2011-06-21 09:25:16, Info [oobeldr.exe] Found no unattend file for oobeSystem pass; skipping pass.2011-06-21 09:25:16, Info [oobeldr.exe] No reboot has been requested for oobeSystem unattend.2011-06-21 09:25:16, Info [oobeldr.exe] Successfully ran oobeSystem pass.2011-06-21 09:25:16, Info [oobeldr.exe] Launching [C:\Windows\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe]...2011-06-21 09:25:16, Info [msoobe.exe] Starting service sppsvc2011-06-21 09:25:18, Info [msoobe.exe] Service sppsvc reports as running2011-06-21 09:25:18, Info [msoobe.exe] Starting service audiosrv2011-06-21 09:25:19, Info [msoobe.exe] Service audiosrv reports as running2011-06-21 09:25:19, Info [msoobe.exe] Successfully created first boot reg key2011-06-21 09:25:19, Info [msoobe.exe] Display mode is set to 1280x1024x32 [60Hz]2011-06-21 09:25:19, Info [msoobe.exe] Starting service Themes2011-06-21 09:25:20, Info [msoobe.exe] Service Themes reports as running2011-06-21 09:25:21, Info [msoobe.exe] Starting service TabletInputService2011-06-21 09:25:22, Warning [msoobe.exe] Service TabletInputService is not running after waiting 10000 milliseconds2011-06-21 09:25:22, Info [msoobe.exe] Found [1] UI languages2011-06-21 09:25:22, Info [msoobe.exe] Saving language [0x0409] [en]2011-06-21 09:25:22, Info [msoobe.exe] Saving language [0x0409] [en]2011-06-21 09:25:22, Info [msoobe.exe] Creating background bitmap [layout=0x00000000, cached=1]2011-06-21 09:25:22, Info [msoobe.exe] PID EditionID: [Enterprise]2011-06-21 09:25:22, Info [msoobe.exe] Registry EditionID: [Enterprise]2011-06-21 09:25:22, Info [msoobe.exe] Searching for EULA: [system32\en-US\Licenses\OEM\Enterprise\license.rtf]2011-06-21 09:25:22, Info [msoobe.exe] Found EULA: [C:\Windows\system32\en-US\Licenses\OEM\Enterprise\license.rtf]2011-06-21 09:25:43, Info [msoobe.exe] Start copy locale settings for "en-US" to default/system/new user account.2011-06-21 09:25:43, Info [msoobe.exe] Succeed in copying locale settings for "en-US" to default/system/new user account.2011-06-21 09:25:43, Info [msoobe.exe] System locale is already "en-US". maxXPsoft
Are you running this on a pre installed system? I see log file goes back to 2010-12-29 and in setuperr.log has 2 dates and some errors but I can't find that error on googleTry wiping the disk and start over.Remember VM is better than it used to be but not all things will work the same as an actual runoops thunder have to get offline
n0xi3
That day you have is the date the image was originally captured from the machine. However some of the errors back then are not applicable now since our unattend files change. We are going to run a new image and see what panther says then. We will let you know what it comes up with. Hopefully it will show us errors that are happening for us to get stuck.I will go ahead and make a new post once this is done. Not sure when we will get to it though. (hopefully later today)
Tripredacus
The 2010 dates are normal. You can ignore those. The problem appears to be that your domain join fails, yet the OS still attempts to log in. 2011-06-17 10:43:42, Error [DJOIN.EXE] Unattended Join: NetJoinDomain failed error code is [2691]2011-06-17 10:43:42, Error [DJOIN.EXE] Unattended Join: Unable to join; gdwError = 0xa83The fact you have a .\ means it is not liking the domain name you have specified? Have you tried specifying the short domain name instead of the fully qualified domain name? Also a usage recommendation... you should have an account created in AD that is used for joining computers to the domain, rather than actually using the main domain admin account. Anywawys, Windows is trying to log into the local Administrator account, but that account is disabled. I also see that OOBE does not see an OOBE pass, and that you are not creating a local user account! I wouldn't think you could log into a system that (technically) has no accounts. You should create at least one local account to be added into the Administrators group, even if you never actually use it. Your generated Unattend also is showing this:<JoinWorkgroup>WORKGROUP</JoinWorkgroup>So let's try to figure out why your system can't join the domain. Can you confirm that the system has an IP address at the time it attempts to join the domain? If you are not certain, you should be able to check your DHCP server for an IP lease.EDIT: the "NetJoinDomain failed error code is [2691]" error in the log means the client could not reach the DC. Tripredacus
Tripredacus glad you joined in as I was about to msg you to see if you could see what is wrong, NetJoinDomain is not my thing but know you have done itActually, I'd use the forum a lot on that part. I've never tried to do an unattend and join a PC to a domain, so I have little knowledge on that entire process and how to fix it. I just read other users posts and try to figure something out based on them.
n0xi3
We tried what you suggested but it got stuck trying to log into that account and would not join the domain. Which is worse then what we had. Were going to change the files back to what we were at originally since that did not work.
maxXPsoft
found this on TechnetI found out that you have to add a local user in your unattended XML file, then joining the domain will work. If you work with pre-staged computer accounts though, setup will generate a random name for your PC and won't use the pre-configured computer account. n0xi3
Now whenever we send the image through ghost the Administrator account does not log in automatically but whenever we log it in manually, it runs sysprep and then disables the account when we try to log in after the restart.. Do we know why this may be happening we are pretty stuck. Let us know if we need to send you anything. Edited June 23, 2011 by n0xi3
